I like Brooks for walking. Have tried Hoka’s and OC and agree with you I like to feel the ground. Buy a half size larger than usual. The “Ghost” are on sale at Zappos and come in 1 day.

I broke my foot 3 years ago and can walk/run painfree in my brooks glycerines. I buy a full size larger.

I also have a pair of new balance 325’s. they’re marketed for health care and figs featured them on their site. They are so comfortable!! When we were in South Africa and Germany last summer, I saw lots of women wearing them…with all types of outfits.

Another fan of Brooks—first when I was a runner and now as a walker. They are the best!

Thank you! I saw a style that looks retro that I liked the other day. I'd never heard of them before this project, so much appreciated.

As an Elder Millennial I would just like to say that I would totally welcome the sneaker story because as much as I think Hoka’s a cute on others I just can’t rock them personally (gives me flashbacks of early 00’s skater sneakers haha).

The Altra Torin sneaker is “zero drop” and has a wide toe box. I also have wide feet with high arches and a high instep and like them when I want a roomier feel that’s closer to the ground. They sell them in store at Dick’s and REI.

Now googling "zero drop"!!! Thank you for this suggestion. I have so much to learn!

+1 for Altra - the toe box is sublime and zero drop is fabulous. I hiked on vacation in my Altras with zero issues

I also have wide, high arch feet plus my left foot is slightly bigger. I feel your pain! I have found success with Brooks and Saucony with additional insoles. I wear No Bulls for rowing or lifting. There’s a newer brand called Hettas that are designed based on women’s feet (most women’s sneakers are just smaller men’s shoes) that I have heard good reviews about https://hettas.com/

Huge Altra fan, there are several choices, best to go to a running store if possible as their sales people usually know how to match the best shoe to your needs. I prefer the Paradigm for feeling the ground.

Hi! Can you also try the Alastin Tinted Sunscreen? I’m debating the Ciele one and want something with more coverage so you’re is pushing me to buy it. But the texture of the Alastin is incomparable I’ve found — love it so much. Curious what you think! Love love your newsletter!

Have no confidence in the shoe store salespeople. I was recently told I have high arches (pretty sure I have low) and sold insoles to run in that caused runners knee. My advice: you won’t really know until you use it, so be prepared to buy a few styles and wear them. See what’s comfortable and stick to that.

Like others, highly recommend Brooks Adrenaline or Ghost and buy a half size up always in running/athletic shoes. I've tried Hoka and Altras , but I always go back to Brooks. They provide a lot of stability are just so comfy and great for pretty much everything.

Would love to hear more about your recs for bras, shoes, and good books.

Would be so interested to know if the Lioness pants shrink on you a hilarious amount when you wash them. I bought them in 3 colors last year, and adore the fit too, but they shrunk…oh, 3-4” (!!) after the first wash. (And yes, I let them air dry.)

Hillary I bought the gap cotton gauzey pants you mentioned last week (or week before?) and I am IN LOVE! Thank you! I also got the hot pink and I did a little squeak when they arrived and I tried them on! Black is perfect for travel but the pink are so FUN! So thank you! Xx

Converted last year to a wide toe box & zero drop shoe and I love them. The brand I wear is Flux and I love that they don’t have the weird look of some other wide toe shoes.
