I love Pureology and have the Roz; it barely lathers but the scent is lovely. I found myself shampooing twice, thinking it wasn’t getting my hair clean. The product literature mentions adding more water to produce more lather, but the difference was minimal, imo.
Oh that's so interesting; I didn't have that experience at all. I splash a little more water on once I've started lathering and that seems to make it go.
I hate to add another to the list since you’ve done so much legwork already, but as someone with similar hair texture and an affinity for many products you mentioned, I think you should try the brand new Saltair shampoo and conditioner for volume. It is so damn good and, drumroll please, a 14-ounce bottle costs 12 bucks. I seriously thought I was being punked when I saw the price. Give it a try!
Sarah, I saw your post about the Saltair products and will be trying them soon!
Hillary...why do you think the Oribe twist off cap will result in spills? My Oribe shampoo has that cap, but you push on it to reveal the opening...no need to unscrew and take off the top!
Oooooh, thank you! I've been a loyal Davines hair product user for years, but I love love the way you described ROZ. And it sounds next level beauty clean. Just ordered from their website (because it was sold out on REVOLVE!) and used the welcome code for subscribing to their newsletter to get a 15% discount. Can't wait to try it! My hair is very similar to yours, HK, so hopefully I will love as much as you. (Note for readers, if you don't want to subscribe, just "bundle" and you will save 10%.) xx
I don’t like dry shampoo but find it a necessity so I’ve been pleased with Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder dry shampoo mist. I have thick & dark hair so most dry shampoos were not enough for my hair and also left it white no matter how much brushing I did.
I’m so curious about the hot rollers! Has anyone with thicker hair tried them on with success? A good friend swears by her hot rollers but she also has thin, easy hair.
I have fine, thinning, wavy, oily hair. A delight! I use generic orange VO5 (from the Dollar Tree) for shampoo and conditioner, and haven't used a blow dryer since lockdown in March 2020. Ironically I had invested in the Harry Josh blow dryer during a Dermstore sale not long beforehand, and now never use it.
BUT, I recently rediscovered Curls Blueberry Bliss Leave In Conditioner (but I rinse it out). I get it at Target but I've also seen in at Nordstrom Rack. I bought it for me years ago but gave it to my son for his wavy coarse hair and I guess never continued using it. While packing up his toiletries to store when he retuned to college, his bottle had just a little left so I thought I'd finish it. WOW is my hair wavier and less frizzy. Buying my own bottle next.
After seeing a video of Emma Stone hair styling prep for the Golden Globes I want to try the Roz products! Look fantastic and the oil sounds (smell) delish
I must be living under a rock but what’s wrong with salt spray? I’m on vacay in Costa Rica and it’s been taming my thin hair that’s been a frizzball in this humidity!
Have been on the fence about Roz but now I think I need it! So glad to know it has your stamp of approval.
I don’t think I have any recs (lots of fine, wavy/curly hair over here still recovering from post partum hair loss) but do find that less heat tools and more natural products, combined with a balanced diet, collagen and pre natal vitamins seem to make a difference! Always love hearing what people love to help with fine hair and frizz 🤪
Loved this story! I missed the request for shampoo recommendations, so I was even more excited to read it as I didn’t see it coming. I find these reviews incredibly helpful and insightful. As a product junkie always looking to fall in love with my next thing, I’m excited to add a shampoo/conditioner to my shower. Side note: as a fellow fine, easier to handle hair gal, why is dry shampoo so hard? It looks good immediately and then looks gross an hour later? Sigh. I recently cut bangs (really tough biz to get into) and my hair game has since been a struggle with a few high days and many lows. But that’s neither here, nor there. Thanks, Hillary!
I had a moment recently when I tried Fekkai's dry shampoo again (the loose one? Called au naturel, which seems discontinued) and I realized I don't always love a spray dry shampoo. But yeah they're hard and they're overly scented IMHO
Might be helpful to add, I’m a Purology loyalist - the purple sheer hydration. I love the minty scent. I’ve also used Living Proof. While no complaints there and I love the scent, it isn’t one I feel I need to keep in my shower. I have been trying Nexus Unbreakable Care line (influenced by Ashley Streicher’s post). Similar to Living Proof, I can’t complain but I don’t know if I’ll repurchase. And the scent just doesn’t do it for me. Been considering Oribe forever but having a hard time justifying the price. This story helps! Okay, I’m done now! Happy Sunday ❤️
Hi I am very excited to read your posts. I am interested for a shampoo and conditioner for fine hair and coloured. Is anything I could try? Thank you so much. I enjoy your company here.
One comment on the Shhowercap. I fully agree that they were the best out there for years. I was a full believer. However something has happened to this company. I ordered a cap, never got it, never got my money back, I had a difficult time even getting someone to respond to me (seriously tracked down the founder on instagram even). It was upsetting. Months later, I got an email from them saying hey so sorry - we had some supply chain issues, here is 20% off. Try us again. And I did. And the same result.
Just wanted to say this...I know Augustinus Bader shampoo and conditioner weren’t on the list. I had samples from Sephora and used them yesterday. Surprisingly awful! My hair feels dry and isn’t shiny...I highly dislike the products, even though I love the Rich Cream and the cleanser.
Thinking I might have to try Roz next! I’ve been very intrigued. I am using purology right now and loving it so far!

Ahahahahahahhaha oh my god did I just fully open it incorrectly? Signs point to yes.
AMAZING! I love their body wash and am excited to try!

A friend and colleague @rachelzeilic has THICK long hair and lots of it and she loves hot rollers like I do. They're so easy IMHO b
Good to know! I’ve been so tempted to try them and this might be the push I needed 😉

The way I immediately added Roz to cart 😅 so excited to try it! Loved this breakdown.
I hope you love as much as I do.

They truly are excellent!!!!

Nothing wrong per se! But they can be drying, and I was overusing! Def user (ahem, me) error.

If you try it, I hope you like it as much as I do! Mara gave us a 20% off code that's updated in the text now if you do want to try.
What do you use as a pre blowdry heat protectant? I have similar hair and lots of products are too heavy on my hair.
Sometimes K18, but honestly I don't normally? I've tried to just reduce the number of time a week I dry/style it.

Honestly the price is...kind of intense. I don't know that it's worth it for me.
Same on the Pureology sheer hydration! It's a good one

I am so old school and still use Kerastase. Do I need to transition to a clean product?

Totally wild.
I am team metal clips too. I hate the butterfly clips.

Oh thank you for this feedback!!!
