Hillary, we may be brain-sharing this week! I've been testing and loving Hanni (the Splash Salve / in-shower moisturizer is my personal favorite, but I love the shave stick, too!). I think this company is really onto something: lazy girl beauty that is also effective and luxe.

I finished reading Big Fan this week. I am so thrilled for Claire & Erica and love what they are doing here to help reshape the romance genre. Personally, I know so many women who say they don't have time to read for pleasure, and this book is the perfect little treat! We need more under 200-page books! I want to order a copy for every harried mom in my life. It's beautiful to look at, well-written, non-cheesy, just fun!

Lastly, I (kid you not) put that long barn jacket in my coat on Friday. I am still debating it, as I got the Alex Mill barn jacket (and I live in the South, do I really need two?), but this feels cool and special.

It sounds like I need to maybe order that Alexa Chung shirt just to really round things out. ;) Have a great week!

Brain share for sure!!!! I was just saying that I love having "The Fatty" stick for nighttime foot and dry spot moisturizing, and I think the Splash salve will be ideal come winter. I feel like it's richer than I need for my upper body, but great on torso and legs. I haven't gotten my application technique down though; any tips?

I need to order The Fatty - that sounds perfect!

So for the Splash Salve, my arms are actually quite dry so they love it. I wait until the very end of my shower and then take a teaspoon and work it up between my hands to kind of liquefy the product (this prevents any chunks as the product is so thick - it's nearly a solid). First I do my arms and the tops of my hands, applying as evenly as possible and really rubbing it in. Then I repeat the process (with slightly more product) and get my legs and feet. I rub in all over to make sure I've gotten an even application and then I give my whole body a good rinsing (rinsing but no rubbing seems to be the key here?) and I'm good. I will stress that I have really dry skin so my skin loves the extra moisture. Even if I were to not rinse, my skin would love it -- I'm basically part reptile!

I was wondering if Hanni was doing a big newsletter push after seeing it in your Substack Grace and then here but it sounds like it just must be a legitimately great product! Adding it to my “to try list”.

Also I’ve tried to get Big Fan from the library but they don’t seem to have it (or even have it on order) so it sounds like this is one I’m just going to have to buy. Plus side is the cover is so chic I can use it for decor after I read it!

Big Fan isn't out yet, so that might be why? And it truly is a great product. I keep their "The Fatty" moisture stick bed to my bed and use it on my feet every night. I love.

Same! I turned 40 this year and have zero urge to shop. For the first time ever, I’m excited to shop my closet for fall.

Yes! I just "found" a suede jacket in my closet that is not worn in a minute and it's perfect for the vibes right now, for example.

All credit to Nikki Ogunnaike and Shiona Turini for turning me on to them, but also so glad you like too!

Can we talk about the fact that J Crew brought back the Heritage 1983 barn jacket? This is the one I grew up wearing, and now wish was still hanging in my closet. I think my sister still has hers!

I cannot live without the Hanni Splash Salve. I cannot even begin to count how many tins I have used. I am basically lazy and this keeps my skin so soft without oiling and lotioning. As soon as one gets low I put it in my travel bag and open another one. They also make excellent gifts!

Argh the Alexa shirt is OOS in large - would you say it’s white oversized, please, Hillary? Adding that book to my kindle immediately! X

I have that denim shirt in my cart because I can’t decide on size, either! Do you feel it’s running TTS and the medium is more your larger size to wear more slouchy?

Thank you!!

Xx

So that Shower Salve. What does it smell like? It sounds like what I need. I’m very lazy and I also hate the feeling of oils and lotions that take forever to absorb. I also have 2 denim shirts. They aren’t exactly the same but close enough. One to wear as a shirt in my regular size and one bigger to wear over layers. As I get older I’m less focused on the size on the label and more on the fit. Also I refuse to be uncomfortable. I say go for it. Finally I love that blue J.crew barn jacket. I have to think about it.

Oh my gosh- of a kind! Of course we remember! I’m pumped to read this and love the cover art… I might get the real thing instead of Kindleing it!? Thanks for sharing 💕
