You should take advantage of the mirror behind you. I loved seeing the back of the balia dress in the pic

You’re so gorgeous! Did you happen to try the Jessi dress from Ref? A simple linen shift is so chic to me, and this one has had my interest for a while. Plus it’s spelled like my name which is unusual and fun! 🙃 I’m worried it might be too short though.

I love Reformation and their designs. They are cute, sexy and wearable. However, lately I find their quality questionable. I just bought a black satin maxi piece and the zipper is so appealing with no lining whatsoever. Threads are hanging loose with crooked seams. I don't think it's what it used to be and it's very sad, since I find the fit and their prints so pretty. However their pieces are getting more and more expensive each day but quality seems like it's getting worse.

TBH I have heard some of that, which is why I decided to focus on the 100% linen dresses for this story, and they really lived up to my expectations/history with them!

Well, thanks for sharing. I'll definately try the linen stuff. I also love their denim. So soft. It feels like heaven.

This is so helpful, especially the sizing info, which silhouettes let you skip a bra, etc. The Marella botanical print is on its way to me!

Love all of your updates & recommendations Hillary. They are so fantastic! I especially love that most of the companies you review provide International Shipping (Aussie here!). Even though our seasons don't marry up - I find your mild summers almost are the same as our Spring & Autumn temperatures. I'm also on the hunt for a 'wedding guest' dress for a Winter Wedding (that will be chilly as outdoors) so if you the urge to post on 'occasion dressing' with any tips I'd love it! Always look forward to your newsletters - thanks again! x

You look amazing in all the dresses and thank you for the sizing info and the washing/dry cleaning info in the comments! I have to ask, what brand/style are your eye glasses your wearing in the photos? They are so chic!

Thanks so much! The majority of my glasses are Cutler & Gross, including the pair I'm wearing here.

What is the wash/wear for the linen dresses? And do they need to be pressed?

The linen dresses are machine wash on cold, lay flat to dry. I don't even own an iron at this point, but will either steam them or use Downey wrinkle release on them after they dry. Or sometimes just hang them in the bathroom with me when I take a hot shower + the shower steam handles most of the work.

Have you washed or dry cleaned any of them yet? I don’t mind dry cleaning winter clothes, but for AZ summers, unless I’m going to a party, I want everything to machine wash well, just too sweaty!

I haven't washed any of these yet (because I just got), but I have four other older Reformation linen dresses and they are all machine wash on cold, then lay flat to dry. I dry clean sometimes, but it's def not necessary. For me, after they're dry, I either use my steamer (linked to my favorite on from Target/Amazon in last week's newsletter) or Downey wrinkle release, as I can never get them to dry perfectly and also get a little Virgo on those details.

Could I wear the Tagliatelle or Magnolia to a May wedding where the dress code is cocktail/semi-formal, or is the linen too casual?

Expand full comment
Hillary Kerr's avatar

I think it might be possible to dress up the Magnolia for cocktail because it's so simple.

Are the Florrie dress’s buttons functional - I.e. will they gape and pull?

Expand full comment
Hillary Kerr's avatar

Yes functional, no gaping or pulling because of that little bit of stretch!

What kind of bra you wear? And also how do you wash these linen dresses? Love to follow you

They're all machine washable, if memory serves, just lay flat to dry.

I loveeeee Reformation and their dresses are so beautiful, not to mention the materials they are using. I've got the Tagliatelle Striped Midi Dress in Linen for Easter and it has been not only super flattering but also very comfortable.

Thanks for sharing the ones you love. Definitely going to explore a few of them as well
