Meet me at the lake. As you would say, it’s a 11/10. I didn’t want to start reading another book for the next two weeks after I finished this one so I could hold onto this story longer. Strong recommendation.
I'm still thinking about this book. I loved it so much. The way that it's written, I could so clearly picture the Muskoka resort where the story takes place. I loved her first book, but this one was amazing. 11/10
Just finished Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson. It was so such a good novel about wealth and NYC. The characters weren't perfect, but you were still rooting for them.
I JUST finished this yesterday and totally agree. There were moments of eye-rolling and moments of feeling excited and also deeply understanding for this wealthy family. Felt like a great modern day update of an Edith Wharton.
I’ve finally read Lessons In Chemistry and I can see why it was such a smash hit. Other than that, I’m mainlining historical romance by Cat Sebastian, and reading (in small doses) Simon Sharpe’s Five Times Faster which is an excellently written climate policy:communications book
Slowly but surely working my way through the @booksparks summer reading list. . . Loved The Daydreams. Kismet, Happy Place, and Love Buzz are good. I am always a sucker for Elin Hildebrand’s annual summer release. For my TBR, 4th of July Beach Week reads, I picked up Unfortunately Yours (Tessa Bailey), The Perfect Find (Tia Williams, about to be a new Hulu show, same author of 7 Days in June / and her new book Summer in Savannah releases on July 4!), Hello Beautiful (saw on your feed the other day, marked $5 for hardback at B&N yesterday!!), and Meet me at the Lake.
It didn't come out this year but it was SO GOOD and I still think of the characters often, a year later - The Most Fun We Ever Had. It breaks your heart and gives it a hug all at the same time.
Minka’s memoir was jaw dropping, painful, beautiful...I can’t stop recommending it. Also had a lot of fun reading I Have Questions Fir You (if that makes sense...having fun reading about a murder ha!)...
I also loved Meet Me At the Lake; it basically secured my position in the Carley Fortune fab club.
Currently reading Banyan Moon which I feel like is taking the summer by storm...a BOTM pick & Jenna Bush book pick. I’m halfway through & getting more & more captivated and invested with each page. Love the 3 different viewpoints. And mother & daughter stories just grip me.
On my TBR list for summer:
On Our Best Behavior
The Rachel Incident
the Book of Flora Lee
And I want to dip my toes in the Emily Henry world but can’t decide which of her books to start with!
Hi there! Okay, not new but incredible: My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor; The Informant by Kurt Eichenwald; assuming you’ve hit An Visible Man and The Woman I Wanted to Be already, but you must read A Personal History by Katherine Graham; and Killers of the Flower Moon (the star-studded film adaptation of this one comes out sometime in the near future)
“Trust” by Hernan Diaz, which won the Pulitzer Prize this year. So many twists and turns and you sometimes feel like a detective piecing together clues as to what the truth really is. Hated to finish it, and went back through it to find more that I had missed.
My own take would be to give it another try, and pay attention to the very beginning, at the table of contents, to the four sections of the book. Each stands alone but all are intertwined and build on the last.
Foster Dade was so good, I was wrecked afterwards. It also inspired me to make a few playlists of music from 15-20 years ago that seemed forgettable then but nostalgic now.
Oh my - Maame! Was just going to post I literally just finished. Started my next book, Did You Hear About Kitty Karr? 5 mins later. So many books to read.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time

Tia is brilliant (I interviewed her for Second Life!) on so many levels!!! I am just wrapping f Unfortunately Yours too!
I knew you would be into the Tessa Bailey pick! Love your book recommendations!

Thank you for this issue Hillary; love it!
I'm biased but Beach Read is my favorite Emily Henry. It's NOT a beach read, despite the name. I mean, it is, but just much more meaningful?

My Murder by Katie Williams was riveting. Now getting into The Celebrants by Steven Rowley and it’s heartbreakingly fun, if that’s a thing.
Since you liked Tell Me Everything you should definitely check out Guinevere Turner’s “When the World Didn’t End”. It’s stunning.
House of Eve
Meet me at the Lake
Tuesday Murder Club

I couldn’t get into this book at all and had to stop reading. Should I try again??
My own take would be to give it another try, and pay attention to the very beginning, at the table of contents, to the four sections of the book. Each stands alone but all are intertwined and build on the last.
Thank you!
Am thrilled to hear this! Am starting this one today.
