I just want to say how much I appreciate you. Thank you for sharing the link to the NYT video, for acknowledging how heavy things are right now, and for sharing your coping strategies (including the great outfits!). I always enjoy your Substack and appreciated it extra today.
Thank YOU for this. I keep getting pushback about "staying in my lane," but acting like everything is okay when a large chunk of my city burned down and the world's richest man is taking away aid from the poorest people in the world (to say nothing of the evil of Project 2025) feels...impossible to ignore. And I don't want to ignore it. Even though that means losing subscribers here and followers on IG. This isn't my day job, so I have the luxury of being able to say what I want, and I'm going to keep on doing so. Thank you for making me feel seen.
No. Please don't stay in your lane. I agree with your sentiments and wonder how anyone can function normally right now. These are not normal times and I wish more people would call it out. So, thank you.
I'm sorry that people are so rude. What business do they have policing your (free!!) content? I work in global health (specifically maternal and child undernutrition), and my whole 20+ year career has been focused on improving the lives of the most vulnerable. They have no voice in these decisions. Thank you for using yours.
I’m really feeling this post - my first time commenting as a result. The Ezra Klein article/video has also been crucial for grounding me and I’ve been sharing and recommending it to everyone. I love your style and getting dressed and working out, getting outside, have also been a form of protest against the fear for me. Super inspired by your looks and thinking I need to add some leopard print - I am woman, hear me roar!!
Thank you for the kind words and for making me feel a little less alone! It's always scary to put myself out there, as folks can be unkind, and this message really means so much to me.
I too am feeling the need to get out of my outfit rut and create some new formulas … loving all of this and will use for inspiration. I for one appreciate the honesty. ✊🏻 😊
Thank you for spreading the word about the Hanni fatty acid moisturizer stick! It is the only thing working for my super dry pregnancy elbows/knees/feet.
Love all of these- and I (and I'm sure a lot of your readers) have been feeling similarly. I also wear so much black and comfy clothes when I feel this way. This was a great reminder to start wearing colors! ♥️
I passed by the Veronica Beard store on Madison Ave last week and saw that gorgeous dress hanging in the window. I love it so much and it looks stunning on you. How tall are you? I’m always reluctant to buy maxi dresses because I always have to get them hemmed.
I'm 5'5" and wearing a 70mm heel. No hemming required for this; I had the dress pulled up a smidge in the picture to show the shoe, but it's fine otherwise. This one would be inexpensive to hem because it's just a single layer, fwiw.
I’m on team put myself together (hair/makeup/clothes) to project the best version of me.
For heels - you can level up by using a cotton pad with glycolic acid followed by your favorite moisturizer and socks at bedtime (credit dermguru on Instagram)
I'm finally coming out of a week-long bug-flu and cannot wait to clean-up and dress-up again. It is amazing how easily we can slip into slobbishness, and how brilliant it feels when we push ourselves back out of it. Those olive Manolo's will definitely help! Love them

I’m glad I never bought your brand. I’ll watch where I spend my money too.
Not sure why you are so upset? Also: I don't have a brand.
Oh wow! The Veronica Beard Gemma Floral-Print Maxi looks sensational on you.
